- Make sure your sump pit is clear of any large objects that may jam the motor or not allow the switch to engage.
- Make sure your pump is no older than 15 years old if so consider replacing it to prevent the old one from unexpectedly stop working.
- Install a battery back up pump in addition to your existing pump.
- Install a water level alarm system with phone out capabilities that can alert you if the water is to high when you are not home.
- Make sure gutter down spouts lead water away from your foundation.
- Installing drain tile underground outside of your home will also prevent water from rolling back into your basement.
